Ruiz Burgos was born in Málaga, Spain where he lived until his youth. He has also resided in Italy. Currently he is settled in East Midland, England, where he develops his professional career as an architect and painter.

Drawing, painting and basically any craft work have been always his hobbies since he was a kid. His mother was the first person who helped him deepen his art skills and kept his motivation flying. Ruiz Burgos also used to enjoy geometry and maths at school, probably for these different reasons, he decided to study architecture.

Among all the elements, he is passionate about the use of colour and light. Ruiz Burgos tries to reflect it in his portraits and landscapes, which encourages him to try different techniques, especially oil and watercolour.

Since his early school years, Ruiz Burgos has been taking part in many art competitions and art collective expositions. This has led to a display of his work around Europe, in: Malaga, Seville, Madrid, Florence, Krakow and London.

He has won different prizes and honourable mentions, including:

  • “UK Jackson´s People Choice Awards” with “Wok Cuisine” (Watercolour) in 2018.

  • First Prize “La Coracha, Spanish National Painting Competition” with La Alpujarra (Watercolour) in 2014.

  • First Honourable Mention “Florence and the Perspective” (Two-Dimensional Square, Ink) in 2011.

  • First Honourable Mention “La Alcazaba, Andalusia Drawing Awards” with Gothic Detail (Ink) in 2008.

  • Finalist “IV Watercolour National Awards” with Ronda (Watercolour) in 2004.

Ruiz Burgos has done different courses of arts in Malaga, Madrid, Florence and Rome over the last ten years. Currently, in his spare time, he always tries to have time to read about art, learn new techniques, keep up to date with new trends and occasionally be an art teacher.
